League City Parks and Recreation Programs, Astronomy in the Park, is Back!

As Fall sets in and the scorching temperatures slowly decline, now is the perfect time to get outdoors and consider these Parks and Recreation programs for you and your kids!

 

Astronomy in the Park this Saturday

Astronomy in the Park a returning program starting September 2nd at Rustic Oaks Park from 7:00 PM to 9:30 PM. Stargaze with fellow Astronomy-enthusiasts and bring your binoculars to make the most of these events. Astronomy in the Park will run from September 2023 through June 2024 on the first Saturday of each month, hosted by Daniel Roy.

 

Dates: 1st Saturday of each month from September 2nd to June 2024

Time: 7:00 PM to 9:30 PM

Ages: All

Cost: Free

 

New Program- Homeschool Coding Class

Foster an environment for exploration, fun, and education at their individual speed, facilitating the development of coding proficiency and critical thinking abilities. Benefiting from the guidance provided by skilled educators, children will learn while having fun! Enroll now to secure your spot!

 

Dates: Tuesday, September 5th - 26th

Ages: 6-7 (12:00 PM to 1:00 PM) & 8-14 (1:00 PM to 2:00 PM)

Cost: $125 per child

Registration: OPEN

Location: Community Center

 

Youth Art Class

Embrace the opportunity to partake in this Youth Art Class program, welcoming students with a passion for creativity and fun! Open to ages 6 through 14, classes range from September to December. This art program is the perfect way for your child to explore their artistic abilities while mingling with their peers!

 

Musical Theatre Information:

Dates: Wednesdays or Thursdays 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM (dates vary depending on the class)

Ages: 6 - 14

Cost: $80 per child

Registration: OPEN

Adult Men's Basketball

Coming back this Fall is the Adult Men's Basketball league! Outdoor recreational sports aren’t just for kids, so grab your favorite sneakers and head out to the courts this upcoming Labor Day! The league will consist of 8 games and practices/games will be held Monday-Friday. If you are interested in playing and don't have a team, please email Eric Rich.

 

League Information:

League Season: September 4th to November 18th

Ages: 18 and older

Cost: Residents: $250 | Non-residents: $375 (per team)

Location: Hometown Heroes Park

Registration: OPEN

 

New Program- Meat with Steve

Calling all dads and grill enthusiasts! Are you looking to master your backyard BBQ skills? If you are, this class is open to novices and experts alike. There will be a two-day interactive BBQ class where you will learn meat selection, trimming, prep, flavor profiles, and proper doneness. This class will take place at Hometown Heroes Park.

 

Meat with Stave Information:

Class Dates: October 20th, 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM and 

October 21st, 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM

Ages: 16 and older

Cost: $125
